The Two-Step Routine: How the Serum and Cream Were Designed to Work Together
A Korean skincare routine for sensitive skin does not have to be ten steps. Here is how the 2PY Serum and Hydrasnow Cream were built to be used together, and in what order.

The Parang Blue two-step routine is a serum and a cream, used in that order, morning and night. Step one is the 2PY Serum, a gentle PHA serum. Step two is the Hydrasnow Cream, a lightweight moisturizer built around panthenol and snow mushroom. The whole routine takes under a minute, and as a set the pair costs $35.90.
Korean skincare has a reputation for long routines. This one goes the other way, and the reason is personal rather than stylistic.
Why only two steps
The founder's daughter has skin that reacts to almost everything, including ingredients most people consider mild. When you live with skin like that, every additional product is another variable. If something goes wrong on a ten-step night, you have ten suspects.
So the line was kept to two products, and each formula was kept short. A short routine does not make anyone's skin better on its own. What it does is make it possible to work out what disagreed with you when something does. Anyone who has spent years narrowing down their own triggers knows how much that is worth.
The two products also cover the two jobs most routines actually need: something to keep the surface smooth, and something to hold moisture in. Everything else is optional.
What each step does

| Texture | Thin and watery, satin finish | Silky, melts on contact, satin finish |
| Size and price | 50 ml, $19.95 | 60 ml, $19.95 |
| Patch test | 0.00, Cert. HM-IR0084-76 | 0.00, Cert. HM-IR0084-75 |
We covered each product on its own in Meet the 2PY Serum and Meet the Hydrasnow Cream. This post is about how they fit together.
How the two were designed to fit
The serum does its work at the surface and then gets out of the way. It sinks in within about a minute and leaves a satin finish rather than a film. That matters for step two: a cream applied over a slippery or tacky serum tends to pill, and pilling makes people rub, which is the last thing reactive skin needs.
The cream is meant to go on while the serum is still slightly damp. That way it has something to hold onto. Its humectant ingredients, panthenol and snow mushroom, work best when there is water around for them to keep.
There is also a balance between the two formulas. The serum carries the exfoliating ingredients and a soothing group of cica, allantoin and aloe. The cream carries no exfoliants at all. That means the strongest step in the routine is followed by the quietest one, not by another active.
The routine, step by step
- Cleanse. Use whatever gentle cleanser you already trust. Pat your face so it is clean, not bone dry.
- Serum. Two or three drops of the 2PY Serum. Press them in with your fingertips rather than rubbing.
- Cream. While the serum is still slightly damp, a pea-sized amount of the Hydrasnow Cream over the whole face.
- Morning only: sunscreen. Give the cream a minute to settle first.
That is it, morning and night. If your skin has been in a reactive stretch, use the serum every other night for the first week and the cream every day, then build up.
Before you start either product, patch test on a small area. Both scored 0.00 in a primary skin irritation patch test, but that is a result on a test panel, not a prediction about your skin.
Morning and night are the same routine. There is no separate night cream and no separate day serum. The only difference is sunscreen in the morning. Keeping both halves of the day identical is deliberate: fewer decisions, fewer variables, and an easier time noticing if something changes.
Fitting it around what you already use. If you have a cleanser and a sunscreen you trust, keep them. The two Parang Blue steps slot in between. If you are adding both products at once to an existing routine, consider starting with the cream for a week, then adding the serum. That way, if your skin responds, you will know which step it was responding to.
What a normal first week looks like. Expect very little to happen at first. That is a good sign, not a bad one. The serum was built to work slowly at the surface rather than to announce itself with a tingle. The cream should sink in within a minute and leave a satin finish. If either product stings, stop and give your skin a few days before trying again on a small area.
The set
The Two-Step Set is the serum and the cream in one order for $35.90. Bought separately they are $19.95 each, $39.90 together, so the set comes to ten percent less. If you are not sure where to start, the set is the simplest place.
Quick answers
Can I use the serum and the cream with other products?
Yes. Both work on their own and alongside the products you already use. If you add them to an existing routine, introduce one at a time so you can tell how your skin responds to each.
Which one should I buy first if I am only getting one?
The cream, for most people. A moisturizer is the step almost everyone needs daily, and it slots into an existing routine easily. Start with the serum instead if you want exfoliation and the exfoliants you have tried before were too much for your skin.
Is a two-step routine really enough?
For a lot of people with reactive skin, fewer steps is the point. Two products cover exfoliation and moisture, and a short routine makes it far easier to spot what your skin is reacting to. Add sunscreen in the morning, as you would with any routine.
